PBS and Detroit Public Television Bring Chicago’s Book Expo America and BookCon to Book Lovers Nationwide

May 12th, 13th and 14th 1 to 5 p.m. ET (12-4 CT)

CHICAGO, May 11, 2016—A crew from Detroit Public Television (DPTV), a PBS Affiliate station, will travel to Chicago to cover two of the most important events in the book publishing business: BookExpo America and BookCon, starting Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14 thanks in part to funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Wyncote Foundation, PBS and AWP.

 

PBS’ Book View Now (BVN) will kick off the coverage on Thursday, May 12 with a live stream of BookExpo America from 1 to 5 p.m. on www.BookViewNow.org. BookExpo America (BEA) is the leading book and author event for the North American publishing industry. BEA offers two event-packed days, 600-plus authors, hundreds of new titles, and more. Coverage will be co-hosted by Book View Now’s Rich Fahle and PBS Newshour’s Chief Correspondent for Arts, Culture, and Society, Jeffrey Brown.

 

On Friday, May 13 and 14, coverage will turn to BookCon hosted by Fahle. The event is an immersive experience that features interactive, forward thinking content including Q&As with the hottest talent, autographing sessions, storytelling podcasts, special screenings, literary quiz shows and so much more.

 

Authors scheduled to appear during the three-day coverage, include:
